Policies that prevent access to hormone therapy for minors cannot be justified based on scientific findings or concerns about potential regret in the future, the report states.

The agency is not taking a position on whether lawmakers should lift the statewide ban on hormone therapy and surgeries for minors. But it reminded lawmakers that they had intended for the prohibition to be temporary until the state could conduct its own research.

Yes, that's what I did!

Fun fact: since that Pi also runs my TV with Kodi, it turned out port 8080 was being taken up by Kodi's web interface so I had to fix that, but after that, it worked nicely.

Many political strategists imagine that voters hold a handful of heartfelt positions, and that the goal of politicians is to meet them where they are. […]

That is almost entirely backwards. A wealth of research shows that voters don’t come to their policy preferences organically - they follow the cues of political figures they identify with. Meaning that generally speaking, it’s not that politicians see where voters stand and try to move toward them, it’s the other way around.

Is it okay to prioritize readability and learning over cutting-edge optimization on personal websites? I believe so. And if we want more people to have a personal website, I think more of us should consider doing the same.

I've been enjoying Meljoann's new album Status — definitely check it out! They describe their music as “hyperjack” — the hyperpop cousin of late 80s/early 90s new jack swing artists like Janet Jackson — and the album is full of rage at the capitalist and technological systems that oppress us.

The music video for ”Rainbow Language (Is For Losers)” in the linked article is full of psychedelic sets and otherworldly costumes (including a plastic trash bag!), and like all Meljoann's videos, it's on the Fediverse on PeerTube.

I've been strongly considering getting a flip phone again. I've tried leaving my phone either at home or in the other room, but I sometimes miss important calls/messages from people I care about, so maybe a flip phone would be a good middle ground.
